Athanaël, a cenobite monk, is haunted by the memory of Thaïs, a celebrated courtesan. Convinced that he must save her, he sets out to convert her. Weary of her dissolute life, Thaïs allows herself to be persuaded and enters a convent… A drama in which flesh and spirit clash to the point of rupture.
